Use Rewards To Make Weight Loss Easier
Shedding the pounds can be a difficult proposition. It requires effort, time, and determination. Sometimes it is beneficial to allow yourself a reward when you achieve an intermediate milestone. If you plan to lose sixty pounds, for example, you might give yourself a special treat for each fifteen pounds you lose. It is common for dieters to want to reward themselves with a forbidden food, but other types of treats are preferable. While one sundae or piece of cake will not instantly result in regaining the pounds, it can lead to a binge or bring back cravings you have already overcome. Instead, select a special luxury you can use to reward yourself without bringing food into the picture.
Rewards do not have to be expensive. A skin softening bath oil, scented candle, and after bath lotion let you create a special environment for a relaxing soak in the tub. Afterwards, curl up with the book you have been meaning to read or your favorite movie.
A jewelry set would also be a nice treat, perhaps a pair of earrings with a matching pendant. Costume jewelry can be found that will not break the budget, or you can shop the sales for quality items. You might consider a style that you would not have worn prior to the weight loss, like an extremely fine chain or bold pendant.
If you still have a way to go on your plan, you might not be ready to invest in new clothing. However, you might consider some nice accessories, such as a silk scarf, leather gloves, or a crystal necklace. These are all items you can continue to enjoy even after you reach your goal.
A day spa might provide the incentive you need to keep your spirits from sagging. A relaxing massage, facial, and manicure could be just what you need to boost your determination. You might also want to consider a new hair style provided by either the spa or a popular salon.
Perhaps a new handbag would be more to your tastes. Hobo bags are quite popular, and they are available in inexpensive styles as well as pricier models from major designers. A whimsical fabric bag can convey your playful side, or an organizer bag can help keep everything in its place.
Visit the perfume counter at your local department store and select a scent that fills you with a sense of joy. Do not try on more than three or four scents each day, however. Too much input can overwhelm your olfactory glands and make it difficult to truly differentiate between them. If you find one you love, consider purchasing the matching soap, bath powder, and bubble bath.
While shopping for a reward, note other items to use as future treats. Planning your rewards in advance allows you to experience the delights of anticipation. Write down the reward that corresponds to each goal and review it periodically. This can be very helpful if you have a moment of frustration or weakness.
